The Pleasantville Trojans, coming off their best season in half a decade, struggled out the gate in their volleyball season opener against the Earlam Cardinals, 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-11) Tuesday.
Pleasantville had plenty of new faces compared to last year, some of whom were making their varsity debut.
All-Conference Senior Libero Breanna Benge, along with Junior Kristen Roe, led the way with 4 kills each.
Head Coach Joel Allman praised his girls, especially to Adi Adreon for her setting abilities, but feels they need to be more consistent.
“We had a lot of new faces playing their first varsity match, and I thought we had stretches where we were passing well which led to some good things. We just have to start trying to do it consistently.”
Pleasantville has lost 11 of 14 matchups against Earlham, dating back to 2008.
The Trojans return to the court this Thursday on the road against Des Moines Christian.
