A Knoxville woman faces charges following a traffic stop Monday afternoon. At 3:22 p.m., a Knoxville police officer observed a parked vehicle near the intersection of West Larson Street and Roche Street in Knoxville. Inside the vehicle, a woman identified as 21-year-old Gabrielle Jemutai Sang was sitting between the front seats, not in a seat, and not wearing a seatbelt.
A traffic stop was performed, and it was known to the officer that Sang had active arrest warrants in Marion County. Sang was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail. Two male passengers were in the vehicle, and gave consent to search the vehicle. The officer located a purse belonging to Sang, and found inside it a THC cartridge, a contact case that contained a liquid which field tested positive for methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. The drug paraphernalia included a spoon with a crystalline residue which field tested positive for methamphetamine, syringes, snort tubes, and a homemade tourniquet.
Sang faces three counts of possession of a controlled substance, a charge for possession of drug paraphernalia, and a charge of failure to wear a seatbelt. The two males in the vehicle did not face charges.
