Indianola Football Starts Season Hosting Dowling Catholic

The Indianola football team will begin their 2020 campaign today, with perhaps the toughest challenge on their schedule as the Maroons of Dowling Catholic make the trip south. The Indians are coming off of back-to-back playoff seasons, and bring back 8 of 11 starters on defense. Head coach Eric Kluver tells KNIA Sports the defense has a lot of experience, but there will be some guys who will have to step up on offense.

“There are a lot of question marks there, we graduated a lot of starters. How are we going to do up front, how we are going to produce at the quarterback position, and are we going to give running back Kael Kolarik time to run and do the things he is very capable of doing.”

The game tonight can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins after the Jeromy Dingeman Concrete Football Friday Night Radio Preview Show concludes at 6:30pm. Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.

Volleyball Performs Well in Opener

The Indianola volleyball team competed at Southeast Polk High School for a quad meet Thursday, going 2-1 to start their season. The Indians fell to Norwalk in three games 2-1, then came back and took down Southeast Polk in a tight 25-16, 20-25, 15-13 best of three contest, before blowing out Des Moines Lincoln 2-0 to conclude the season opening contests. The Indians are now 2-1 on the season, and will compete in a triangular at Ankeny Centennial Saturday along with Nevada.
