Pella and Pella Christian both competed in the Bondurant-Farrar invitational Saturday.
In their season opener, the Eagles went 3-3 against a tournament filled with preseason ranked teams. Pella Christian defeated Perry 2-0 (21-16, 21-13), Woodward-Granger 2-0 (21-17, 21-18), an North Polk 2-1 (13-21,21-19, 15-12), and fell to No. 8 in 4A Gilbert 0-2 (16-21, 13-21), Carroll 1-2 (5-21, 21-10, 7-15), and Williamsburg 0-2 (20-22, 22-24).
The Lady Dutch followed up their season opening win Tuesday with a 4-2 overall record for the tournament. No. 12 in 4A Pella defeated No. 14 in 4A Carroll 2-0 (22-20, 21-15), Boone 2-0 (21-8, 21-11), Williamsburg 2-0 (21-13, 21-19), and No. 1 in Class 1A Holy Trinity 2-1 (16-21, 21-17, 15-8), with losses to the host No. 15 in 4A Bondurant-Farrar 0-2 (16-21, 12-21) and No. 10 in 4A Waverly Shell-Rock (12-21, 19-21). Pella moves to 5-2 and heads to No. 15 in 5A Indianola Tuesday, while Pella Christian opens their home gym at Eagle Lane against Norwalk that same night.
