Heal House of Warren County held a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house at their new location Sunday, taking over what was previously the Woods Motel to provide assistance to the local homeless population. Laurie Abernathy with Heal House tells KNIA News it may not be a problem that is widely known, but it is an issue we can all help out with.

“I think people don’t realize we have homeless people in Warren County. Last year when it was 30 below, we found six individuals that weren’t couch surfing or in a shelter, just six individuals out in the cold who were Warren County residents. For everybody to pull together like this and help us get this facility opened, it’s amazing because it shows how much Warren County cares about the people that live here.”
