The Indianola Community School District expanded their summer meal program this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, going from March through August, and included an expansion to serve breakfast over the summer. New Food Service Director Abbi Costigan tells KNIA News it was their biggest summer meals program ever, and it was during a time when the community needed it the most.
“We had such a turnout this summer for the program, both breakfast and lunch. I am excited to announce that as a total we served over 24,000 lunches during that time. It was definitely utilized within the community and was a great success.”
