The first ever Marion County Suicide Prevention Fun Show is taking place this weekend. It’s a horse show with the goal of raising awareness for suicide prevention. Marley Larson is an organizer of this event, and explains the reasoning for putting on a horse show.
“My brother actually took his own life two years ago, and it’s been hard for our family. We’re wanting to put on something for this cause. We were going to a horse show when this happened, and talking about the shows. And I said ‘Hey, you know what? Let’s just have a show ourselves.’ And here we are today having our own show.”
The show begins at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the Marion County Fairgrounds and runs through Sunday. All proceeds will be donated to Your Life Matters. To learn how to donate or how to be involved in the shows, click here.
