The PCM volleyball team has a tough slate of games on the horizon, facing two ranked opponents over the next three days. Tonight, it’s a road trip to Roland-Story to open conference play. The Norsemen are the #11 ranked team in Class 3A, and are off to a 7-1 start to the season.

Saturday, it’s a trip to Conrad for a tournament at BCLUW. There, the Mustangs will face #6 in 2A Hudson, as well as South Tama, North Polk, Benton Community and the hosting Comets. Head Coach Mike Vittetoe says that these tough matchups will be an early test for his team that is off to a 5-5 start.

“It’s going to be a tough test. Roland-Story is a top team, and the tournament at BCLUW is always a good one, a lot of quality teams there. Hudson is a real good team, they’re about as good as we’re going to see this year. Benton Community was really good last year, North Polk, and then BCLUW has been really strong here the last few years. It’s going to be quality teams we’re facing here in the next few days. What’s nice is those quality teams are going to expose your weaknesses. So we’ll be able to address those and get better, and I’ll be anxious to see how we play against them.”

Tonight’s match begins at 6:30 p.m. at Roland-Story High School in Story City. Saturday’s tournament begins at 9:00 a.m. at BCLUW High School in Conrad.
