Pleasantville Eyes 2-0 Start Tonight vs. Lynnville-Sully
It’s a battle of 1-0 teams as Pleasantville hits the road for the second time in as many weeks as they go Northeast to face the Hawks of Lynnville-Sully.
Head football coach Mack Jorth’s squad is coming off a strong debut against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, 34-12, as they felt so confident in their game that they pulled their starters early in the second half.
They had 427 yards of total offense as quarterback Caylor Clark went 12/13, 133 yards, and three touchdowns in the air to go with an extra 52 yards and a score with his legs. Running back Isaac Mann caught one of those touchdown passes to go with his 135 yards on the ground. Five different Trojans reached the end zone.
As impressive as they were, this week’s opponent may have actually 1-upped them.
Lynnville-Sully defeated Colfax-Mingo 64-26, behind an offense that produced over 500 total yards and nine touchdowns. On the ground alone, they had 484 yards and eight scores. Running back Kyle Squires led the way by doing his best Isaac Mann impression by going for exactly 135 yards and one touchdown of his own. Freshman Corder Noun Harder had a hat trick, accounting for three of the Hawks’ nine scores.
Lynnville-Sully finished 1-8 in 2019. They’ve already matched their win total and now look to get past Pleasantville to double it.
The major difference between these two teams in experience. The Trojans are led by a plethora of Senior leadership, while the starting lineup for L-S is comprised mostly of Freshman and Sophomores.
