2020 has caused a lot of hardships to a lot of people. For Iowa high school football teams, it threw their schedules into a blender. What came out of it was a seven-game regular season for most and a guaranteed playoff berth for all.
Pleasantville football on the other had had two things fall out of their favor. The first was having more road games than home games, with the other being two of their four away games coming to start the season.
The Trojans certainly would have liked that to be switched. Last Friday, Pleasantville opened up at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and then traveled again to Lynnville-Sully this week for their next contest.
While they did go 2-0 in those games, head coach Mack Jorth understands the fans’ disappointment of not getting to see their sons, grandsons, nephews, etc. hit the field, but assures that his team is worth both the wait and the price of admission.
“I think they’re going to see a fun football team. A lot of different playmakers this year, but a lot of athletes that can make plays for us and got a quarterback (Senior Caylor Clark) that is really playing some good football and getting the ball to a lot of different guys. Got a number of different running backs that can hurt you as well.”
Jorth also praises the physicality of his offensive line as his great backfield only produces when the guys up front do so as well, and loves the athleticism his defense shows on every play with non-stop effort to match.
The Trojans home opener comes this Friday against Mount Ayr. Hear select Pleasantville football games on the KNIA/KRLS family of networks.
