Melcher-Dallas will begin a busy week of sports tonight with the Cross Country Squad heading to Central Decatur. J’Lyn Knutson is trying to win her second straight race after capturing first place at Wayne last week. Knutson has been dealing with a hip flexor injury for the better part of a year. Coach Amy Stuart tells KNIA Sports the pandemic did not help her recovery as she was on her own for workouts last spring and was nearly recovered when the injury flared up again, but with sports returning she was able to get back in the swing of things with her rehab.

Stuart:
“She got recovered with her hip injury and was doing well, then COVID hit and we were off doing her own thing and experienced some pain again and had to go back to the drawing board to get to where we need to go and she’s doing a good job of knowing where to push herself and get to where she needs to be.”

Stuart says they are working on the metal game of Knutson’s race and getting to to overcome any pain she may encounter.
