The PCM volleyball and cross country teams will be in action tonight. The volleyball team hosts Greene County for Senior Night in the conference home opener. The Mustangs are 5-11 overall and 0-1 in conference play, but have matched last season’s win total already. Head Coach Mike Vittetoe says his team’s depth has paid dividends so far this year.

“We’ve had a lot of people step up, we’re playing a lot of girls. We’ve got two different lineups, a game one lineup and a game two lineup. We have a lot of girls that are pretty even and have their own skillset. One hasn’t separated from the other, so there’s several spots we’re sharing. And it’s good, we’re deep. All 14 girls are capable of giving us quality minutes. Practices are really competitive, really like to see that.”

Greene County has much fewer games under their belts with a 2-1 record. It’s also the conference opener for the Rams. Action gets underway at 7:00 p.m. at PCM High School.

Meanwhile, the Mustangs cross country team will have their second meet of the season this afternoon. The boys will look to place with a full team this time around, while the girls team will try to improve on two top-15 finishes in the opener last week. Action gets underway at 5:15 p.m. in Grinnell.
