Knoxville High School Activities Director Ryan Paulsen has released guidelines for the event of a student developing COVID-19 symptoms while at an away event. The student will be isolated away from the rest of the team at the school facility until the parent or guardian can get to the child. The student will then be sent home with a parent or guardian so they are away from other students and coaches.

If a parent or guardian is not present at the event, the coach will call the parent or guardian and inform them that they need to come pick up their child. In the event that attempts to reach the parent or guardian are unsuccessful, an emergency contact will be reached.

Paulsen reminds everyone that while it is unlikely that a student starts to feel symptoms after they have left to go to an away game, the district wants to have a contingency for any possible scenario.
