The three-hour parking restriction has been repealed from the downtown Indianola square and surrounding area for the duration of the Warren County Justice Center construction and Downtown Streetscape Project, the topic may be revisited once those projects are complete.

“The conversation staff had with the council, the chamber, and business owners, was this is the first time we are going through this. Obviously once the courthouse is up and running and the streetscape is implemented, patterns will be different. So we’ll have to evaluate the parking restrictions again at that time too. So this was a good first exercise to get everyone to work together and identify possible solutions, and it’s a topic we will have to take a look at in the next two or three years.”

Waller also said the dialogue between the city, Indianola Chamber of Commerce, and local business owners and employees was good to see and their cooperation was how the changes came about.
