pleasantville-3

It was a rough patch for the Trojan ladies to start the year, but things look to be turning in their favor following a road victory at Clarke in Osceola, 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-19). It was the first sweep of the year and the second win this fall for Pleasantville.

Defense was the story of the night, as Breanna Benge, Lauren Cook, and Cheyene Pagel stood out with diving efforts. Perhaps this is more important considering all three sets were so evenly matched.Amber McKinney also improved her hitting while Sydney Septer continues to show up when it’s her turn to serve.

Head coach Joel Allman praises his squad for showcasing all the fundamentals of the game, leading to a morale-boosting win.

“I thought defensively we were flying around the court better than we’ve ever done. I saw girls diving for balls. Then I thought our hitters did a good job of getting good swings and a lot of that was because our passes were better. Adi [Adreon] was able to have a better pass and a better set. I just thought all around our defense was scrappier, which led to better setting, which led to better attacks.”

The event was scheduled to be a triangular with Mount Ayr being the third party, but had to cancel due to COVID-19 related reasons.

It’ll be a short break for the Trojans as they play in another triangular tomorrow at Twin Cedars with Murray joining in on the fun, which is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
