The 10th annual Nana Jana Fun Run is one week from today. It’s a run with the intent to raise awareness of Ovarian Cancer, hosted by Den Dennison. The run is named after Dan’s late wife Jana, who died of Ovarian Cancer. Dennison says this disease is a silent killer, and hopes to raise awareness locally.
“Our hope is to help people who are dealing with Ovarian Cancer, and the families that have had to deal with it. It’s like any cancer, but it’s very difficult and tough on families. We’re trying to raise awareness, and for a lot of ladies, the signs are pretty quiet, about knowing you’ve got it. So we’re just trying to make people aware that they need to listen to their body and be persistent with the doctor if they think something is wrong.”
The run is next Saturday, September 19th at 9:00 a.m. at Dan-D Farms on Highway 14 south of Knoxville. Various other activities will be taking place as well. Due to COVID-19 economic hardships, Dennison will not be seeking sponsorship money for this year’s run. The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio will be on site playing music and providing entertainment.
