pleasantville-3

The Trojans finally got to play on their home field for the first time Friday night, which was also their Senior Night. Pleasantville managed to pull the upset as they hosted a top 10 team in the Raiders of Mount Ayr to start the year 3-0 after the 13-7 win.

It was a physical game throughout and defense was king as it was scoreless at halftime. Running back Isaac Mann managed to open the scoring and give Pleasantville a 7-0 early in the third quarter. Mount Ayr would tie it later on, but a turnover by the Raiders led to great field position for the home team. They would capitalize as Junior Jake Heimstra would score the winning touchdown. It was his first action of the season after returning from injury.

Head coach Mack Jorth’s team got the ball up 13-7 with around eight minutes remaining, and opted to run out the clock to seal the win. He praises his team for their physicality and gave special appreciation to his plethora of seniors for reestablishing and rebuilding the Trojans’ proud culture.

Pleasantville will remain home next week as they host Central Decatur. The game can be heard on the KNIA3 stream at kniakrls.com.
