The Pleasantville Trojans showed up to play in their Homecoming game of 2020 with an absolutely dominant performance against the Central Decatur Cardinals Friday night 48-6.
The Trojans have struggled to get going in the first half recently, but that wasn’t the case in this matchup of district opponents. The home team lead 41-6 at the break before simply running out the continuous clock when they came out of the locker room.
The Homecoming King, senior quarterback Caylor Clark, got to the end zone twice with his legs. His brothers in the backfield, Isaac Mann and Jake DeJoode, did the same. The latter of which scored both of his from the one yard line. The final touchdown was on special teams when a bad snap on a Cardinal punt led to a scoop and score for Dillon Ammonds.
Halfway through the season, Pleasantville is 4-0 for the first time since 2017 including a win over Mount Ayr last week, arguably the toughest game on the Trojans’ schedule. With such an experienced roster, they seem poised and destined for a deep playoff run and might end up having home field as well. Head coach Mack Jorth thinks the world of his team’s potential.
“I think the sky’s the limit for us for sure. I think we got a lot of possibility to be good. Guys just taking care of business and do what we need to do to be the best we can be. We definitely have a couple tough games coming up here real soon. We got Colfax-Mingo, Pella Christian and I-35. They will be very good football teams. So the tests remain for the final three weeks of the season. We just got to focus on being as sharp and as good as we can possibly be each and every step of the way.”
