It was Homecoming week for the Trojans, and there was plenty of action everywhere.

Head cross country coach Aaron Fichter and his squads hosted their only meet on Monday at the Pleasantville Golf and Country Club. Hailee McCormick shined for the girls in front of the home crowd with a season-best fifth place finish. Emmie Kenyon also managed to crack the top 25 out of 72 total runners. Devon Luing suffered an injury halfway through his run, resulting in a 15th place finish after finishing no worse than sixth in 2020. Jenkin Fulmer wound up leading the home team with an 11th place finish. In the 12 team field, the boys and girls finished ninth and fifth, respectively.

The volleyball team started out flat on Tuesday after being swept by Panorama at home 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-17). Head coach Joel Allman called it perhaps their worst outing of the year. A triangular at Chariton on Thursday got postponed until October 5th, allowing the girls to partake in the Homecoming Parade. The finished the week with a triangular at Melcher-Dallas. They started off beating Mormon Trail 2-0 (25-18, 25-15). Melcher-Dallas won the second matchup for the Trojans 2-1 (15-25, 25-18, 15-10). They currently sit at 6-5 on the year.

The football team easily handled Central Decatur Friday night 48-6. Homecoming King and quarterback Caylor Clark celebrated by getting two scores with his legs as well as an interception on defense. Running backs Isaac Mann and Jake DeJoode also scored twice on the ground. Head coach Mack Jorth was proud of his team’s effort and hopes to continue dominating in the second half of the 2020 campaign.

This week, the cross country team heads to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on Tuesday for their lone meet of the week starting at 4:30. The volleyball team makes their lone outing of the week on Tuesday as well at Ogden at 7:00. The football team hits the road to take on Colfax-Mingo on Friday seeking to start 5-0 for the first time since 2017, where they started 6-0. Kickoff is at 7:00.
