The PCM volleyball team hosted a non-conference tilt with Martensdale-St. Mary’s Tuesday evening, and ran away with a 3-0 sweep. The Mustangs absolutely rolled in set 1, outscoring the Blue Devils 25-3. Set 2 was much tighter, as a scoring surge by Martensdale-St. Mary’s made it a one-point game at 16-15. A PCM timeout allowed the Mustangs to take control, and went on a 9-1 run to close the set with a 25-16 win. Set 3 saw the Blue Devils take their first lead of the night early on, but PCM pulled away late for a 25-17 win to earn the sweep. Head Coach Mike Vittetoe says he was proud of his team’s effort to close out the match, and that this win was a momentous occasion for the program.

Leading the way offensively was Celeste Wagaman with seven kills and six aces. Chelsea Bird had five digs. PCM improves to 10-14 overall and is back in action Monday in a tournament at Roland-Story.
