It was a tough night on the road for the Tulip City volleyball teams as both Pella and Pella Christian were swept in Little Hawkeye Conference action Tuesday.

The No. 12 in 4A Lady Dutch were upended by a dominant Oskaloosa attack, falling 3-0 (21-25, 22-25, 18-25). Despite a few rallies, Pella’s defensive back line and front row blocking both had difficulty slowing down Indians’ hitters Faith DeRonde and Maleah Walker.

Pella Christian didn’t fare much better in their trip to Grimes, falling to DCG 3-0 as well (18-25, 15-25, 18-25). Avey Amelse had 14 kills and Sarah Gritters tallied nine, but those efforts and 12 blocks were not enough to overcome 13 service errors.

Pella falls to 11-6 and 3-1 in the conference, and will host Dallas Center-Grimes on September 29th. The Eagles drop to 8-7, 1-3 in conference play, and next host their annual invitational this Saturday morning.
