The Indianola City Council will hold a special meeting next Tuesday to determine how the city will proceed regarding the vacancy in the mayor’s office. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the city will be briefing the council on their responsibilities to fill the office.

“City staff is currently working with legal counsel to determine the necessary steps to fill that vacancy. In the interim, one of the things the city code has is a Mayor Pro Tem, and City Councilwoman Greta Southall was appointed as that and will take over any prescribed responsibilities of that office in the interim. The council has 60 days within which to fill that appointment.”

The meeting will take place at 5:30pm in the city council chambers at Indianola City Hall, and will be broadcast live via YouTube and Zoom Meeting.
