A battle for first place in Class 2A District 8 takes center stage in Monroe this evening, as the top-ranked PCM Mustangs play host to Centerville. PCM will celebrate Homecoming this evening after a three-game road swing, and will face a Big Reds team that may prove to be the toughest test of the year so far. Centerville has bounced back from an 0-2 start to the season, and enters this game 2-2 following dominant wins in Weeks 3 and 4. Head Coach Greg Bonnett says that Centerville is a resilient team with some explosive playmakers.
Centerville junior quarterback Sawyer Wardlow has accounted for 15 of the team’s 16 touchdowns on the season, and leads Class 2A District 8 in touchdowns, passing yards and all-purpose yards. On the other side, PCM junior running back Aiden Anderson is by far the leading rusher in the district, and enters with the momentum of a season-high 185 yards last week. Tonight’s game will be broadcast on the KRLS3 stream with Jon Mohwinkle and Jeff Lindsay calling the action. Pregame coverage begins at 6:30, with the opening kickoff in Monroe at 7:30.
