Light showers brought additional needed rain during an otherwise dry spell across the region. Between ¼ and ½ an inch of precipitation was recorded across south central Iowa Sunday as a cold front brought a fall-like burst of air. Abnormally dry conditions persist throughout most of south central Iowa in the most recent U.S. Drought Monitor Report, with moderate drought in portions of northwest Warren, Polk, and Jasper Counties.

According to the National Weather Service, daytime highs in the 60s and mainly dry conditions are expected through Wednesday, until another cold front drops temperatures further, as when the calendar turns to October on Thursday, highs will drop to the upper 50s and overnight lows will hover in the upper 30s.
