Today is the deadline for adults with children to receive their economic stimulus payment from the IRS. Other adult federal benefit recipients must act by October 15th to get their $1,200. Heather Libby with the Knoxville Library says that the library is a help center for people to complete the online request forms.

“The library has computers and internet available for you to come in and investigate whether or not you can still get your stimulus check. If you do come in, you’re going to need to bring some information, your social security number, your email address and your bank information. Ideally, if you can bring someone to help you, that would be great, but librarians are available to guide you to the right place, help you along the way if you get stuck. We’re not able to complete the applications for you because this involves a lot of personal information, but we’re going to help you through the process as much as we can.”

Tools are available on the IRS website to check eligibility for these payments. Libby encourages everyone to contact the Knoxville Library with questions.
