The Indianola City Council met in special session Tuesday evening, discussing the vacancy of the Mayor’s office. City staff presented the next steps for the city to take to have the position filled, which can be via an appointment or special election. A special election would cost approximately $10,000, with the soonest special election date taking place on March 9th, 2021. The council discussed the appointment process that would include an application to be reviewed by the council, and the council will vote on the process at the October 5th meeting.
