The class 3A number #15 Knoxville Volleyball Squad has clinched at least a share of the South Central Conference title after a 3-0 sweep over Clarke on Tuesday night by scores of 25-10, 25-17, and 25-15. Knoxville rolled in the set one leading at one time by a score of 21-5 before settling for the 15 point win. Errors in sets two and three caused the Panthers to be delayed a bit in settling those issues but as Coach Mollie Keitges told KRLS Sports, a mix of errors and good play added up to a win that she was happy with.

Keitges:
“Defensively we got caught a couple of times that I didn’t like. Our serving was really aggressive, a few more errors, but we were more aggressive and I was OK with that, but I thought our hitters were really good, and they were aggressive and were smart on when to hit, when to tip, when to push and swing, so things looked really good hitting.”

Brittany Bacorn had another all-around night co-leading with Reilly Finarty with nine kills. Bacorn also had 21 digs, and was 15/16 serving with three aces. Maggie Wilkins had 21 digs, Marley McKay had 26 assists and was 14/15 serving with three aces, while Tara Uitermarkt was 14/14 serving with an ace. Knoxville is now 17-3 will be off until next Thursday when the Panthers host Mount Pleasant. Before the match two Panthers were honored by achieving career milestones as Finarty was honored for getting her 500th kill recently and Wilkins was honored for her 1,000th career dig. Wilkins now owns the career record for digs in Knoxville volleyball history.
