The postseason is drawing near for the 2020 Iowa High School Cross Country season, and many teams and athletes in the area remain in the rankings provided by the Iowa High School Track and Field + Cross Country Coaches Association.

Pella is still the No. 2 team in Class 3A. The Dutch edged No. 5 Solon at the Williamsburg Invitational earlier this week. Josiah Wittenberg is 17th and Tony Schmitz is 24th in the individual 3A boys rankings. The Lady Dutch are back in the teams to watch, just outside the Top 20.

Indianola’s girls have joined the Class 4A girls rankings at 13th overall, featuring individuals Emily Naughton and Gracie Foster as the 22nd and 27th rated runners in the state. Knoxville’s Norah Pearson is ranked 9th among 3A individual girls, as the 2019 All-State runner has been in the top 10 since returning to racing after an early season injury.

Eagles’ girls runner Jaclyn Holmes is ranked 30th in the deep Class 2A individual standings. Pella Christian’s boys and PCM’s girls have joined the teams to watch ranks in Class 2A, both for the first time this season.


Twin Cedars Sophomore Rylee Dunkin remains in the top ten in Class 1A Individually, currently 9th in Class 1A. J’Lyn Knutson of Melcher-Dallas is the 26th ranked individual among Class 1A girls.
