The Indianola defense held Ames to just 40 yards of offense while Kael Kolarik rushed for 127 yards and four touchdowns as the Indians shut out the Little Cyclones 31-0 Friday evening. The Indians struck first with a 68 yard touchdown drive finished off by a Kolarik 4-yard rush, then after a Jacob Darr interception, Kolarik rushed for a 7-yard score to put the Indians up 14-0 at the end of the first, and that score would hold until halftime. Kolarik would add a 3-yard score and a 1-yard score in the third, and Steph Stark hit a late field goal to round out the scoring in the contest. Head coach Eric Kluver tells KNIA Sports his team is coming together at the right time, and it’s because they are all buying into the team culture.
“It’s the ultimate team sport and I think you see that every night we go out and play. Our guys aren’t selfish, they have a role to play, go out and do it to the best of their ability, and they understand that it’s going to take all 11 out on the field for us to be successful like we were tonight.”
The Indians improve to 3-3 on the season, and will travel to Ankeny to round out the regular season next week.
