Trojan cross country went to Red Haw State Park near Chariton for this week’s meet. Devon Luing looked fully recovered from a nagging injury as he placed eighth. Hailee McCormick struggled in the final mile of the race, winding up a season worst 16th. Emmie Kenyon wound up having a 21st place finish in what was a relatively large 80 runner field. Both squads as a team finished next to last.
After a ten day break, Trojan volleyball had just one matchup on Tuesday. They fell to Van Meter 3-1 (25-12, 25-17, 21-25, 25-9). Head Coach Joel Allman was happy to see his girls fight and steal a set after losing the first two on the road.
The football team fell short after a 34-27 home loss to Pella Christian, ruining their previously unbeaten start. They had little answers for Eagle quarterback Isaac Kacmarynski as he accounted for over 400 yards of offense. They still have a chance at the district title, depending on how the last week of the regular season plays out.
This week, cross country competes at Nodaway Valley on Monday. The volleyball team is hard at work with seven total games. Two on Monday at Chariton, one on Tuesday at Ogden, one on Thursday at Woodward-Granger, and three on Saturday at home in a quad tourney. On Friday, the football team is on the road for the final game of the regular season at I-35.
