It is time for a fall color drive, according to the latest Fall Colors report from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Reds and oranges are on the hard maples in town, and many forest edges are lined with purples, reds, and yellows. Bottomland species like walnut and bitternut hickory are bright yellow and starting to fall and shagbark hickory have a deep golden color, with oak species starting to turn. The Iowa DNR predicts the peak for fall colors across the region will be around October 15th.
