It was a very good night for Marion County runners at the Centerville Cross Country Invitational as the top three in the girls race were from Marion County teams. Leading the way was Knoxville’s Norah Pearson in a time of 19:15 for first place overall, in second overall was Twin Cedars’ Rylee Dunkin in a season best time of 20:01. In fact, two other Sabers had season bests as Kisha Reed came in at 23:44 in 27th place and Grace Bailey’s time of 24:54 was good enough for 47th. Placing third overall was Pella Christian’s Jaclyn Holmes in a time of 21:33. In sixth was Melcher-Dallas’s J’Lyn Knutson in a time of 22:00. Knoxville led the area in team standings with 129 points behind fellow South Central Conference teams Davis County, Albia and Chariton. Pella Christian placed sixth with 159 points. Twin Cedars and Melcher-Dallas did not have enough runners to score. On the boys side the area was led by Knoxville’s Seth Walraven in sixth place. The Panther junior ran a time of 17:18 with the team finishing seventh in the overall standings. Pella Christian’s Kaden Van Wyngarden was 17th in a time of 18:19. The Eagle sophomore helped his team finish sixth overall.
