To the victor go the spoils. That saying rings true as Pella prepares for a trip to Nevada tonight with the district championship on the line. The Little Dutch are a perfect 4-0 in district play, while the Cubs are 3-1.
If Pella wins, their 5-0 sweep through the district earns them the title. A Nevada win would give them the championship by virtue of the head-to-head victory over the Little Dutch. Pella Coach Jay McKinstrey says that the spoils awaiting the victor are well worth the effort tonight.
“I don’t want to put excess pressure on our kids because they know it, but at the same time there’s a lot riding on this football game. You get a bye week (next Friday night), then a home game the following week, and if you win that one, which hopefully you can, you probably have one the following week because you’re going to be the district champ and number one seed in this area. So, yeah, there’s a lot riding on this game.”
Trevor Castle and Randy Sikkema will call the action live tonight from Nevada. Pregame hits the air at 6:30 with the opening kickoff at 7:30 on 92.1 KRLS.
