While above average temperatures settled into the region this week, the colors on trees will soon reach their peak.

Central College Professor of Biology Paul Weihe says there are several areas locally to enjoy the transformation from summer to autumn locally — including at Lake Red Rock, in various neighborhoods in Pella, and at other natural timbers and other tree lines in the region.

The most recent report from the Iowa DNR indicates the best viewing will take place some time next week in south central Iowa.
