The Pella Knights of Columbus are presenting donations to local organizations supporting persons with intellectual disabilities this week.
Joe Lickteig says the 22nd annual Campaign for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities raised nearly $47,000 in August through a partnership challenge with 100+ Men on a Mission, the telethon held with KNIA/KRLS at the Pella Opera House, and donations made in front of local grocery stores.
On Monday, $4,634 was given to Wonder Spelen, the upcoming miracle playground coming to Kiwanis Park in late 2021. Mark Wiskus with Wonder Spelen says community donations continue to pour in to support the project allowing all kids to play together.
The Knights of Columbus have already donated 10 percent of this year’s earnings to the Iowa Special Olympics, and will be presenting donations to the Pella Community Schools and Pella Christian Special Education departments, as well as the Christian Opportunity Center.
