Two Central College players secured American Rivers all-conference honors at the league women’s golf tournament Monday. Freshman Mackenzie Biggs was the top rookie in the field, taking third place at 76-83-81—240 while sophomore Delaney Underwood was ninth with 82-80-84—246.
But Luther College turned in its best round of the 54-hole tournament and slipped past Central in the team race, leaving the Dutch with their second straight fourth-place league finish at 333-343-344–1020. The University of Dubuque took the team title with 309-325-327—961 while Wartburg College shot 318-329-327—974 and Luther was third with 335-342-334—1011. Buena Vista University was fifth at 364-361-365—1090 with Simpson College at 365-369-384—1118 and Nebraska Wesleyan at 384-364-376—1124. The other two league schools were not able to field full squads.
Central’s Peyton Bytnar tied for 18th at 87-91-88–266, Whitney Anderson shared 22nd at 88-92-92–272 and Madison Clark was 24th at 93-89-91—273.
The conference meet concluded Central’s fall season. They’ll be back in action in the spring.
