Central and Simpson have been bitter rivals on the football field for quite some time. But for a nearly two decade stretch, their games meant very little to the conference standings. That all changed when the two teams were both undefeated in league play heading into their October 13th, 2018 matchup, one that will be featured this Saturday in our “KRLS Classic” broadcast.
It was a sluggish first half, with the score tied 3-3 at intermission before the offenses woke up. Simpson led 16-10, having missed an extra point on their most recent touchdown, when Central drove down to win the game.
Jon Alberts booted through the extra point and Central knocked down a Simpson Hail Mary at the buzzer to keep its undefeated season intact with the 17-16 win.
Trevor Castle and George Wares donned the headsets that afternoon at Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium, and you can relive all the action this Saturday afternoon at 1:00 on 92.1 KRLS.
