The deadline to request an absentee ballot through the mail is approaching. Marion County Auditor Jake Grandia says that those requests must be received by the office by this Saturday.
“This Saturday, the 24th, is the last day the auditor’s office can mail out absentee ballots through the mail. If you want to receive an absentee ballot through the mail, we will need to have the request in house by Saturday at 5:00 p.m. to mail the voter a ballot.”
To date, over 8,300 absentee ballots have been requested in Marion County. That number is just above the number of requests for the 2016 election, and is over one-third of Marion County’s 23,030 active registered voters. The Marion County Auditor’s Office remains open to in-person absentee voting through Monday, November 2nd.
