State Senator Mariannette Miller-Meeks is a candidate for Iowa’s 2nd Congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. As someone with a medical background, Miller-Meeks says that she will work to improve healthcare should she be elected.

“I’m the only doctor, former director of public health, 24-year military veteran on the ballot running who is going to not take away the tax cuts that have put more money in their pockets, continue to navigate through this pandemic and prepare for the next pandemic. I’ll continue to work on skills training and apprenticeships so that we can increase jobs, an infrastructure bill that will increase jobs, fair and free trade agreements that don’t penalize our agricultural and manufacturing sectors within not only Marion, Mahaska and Jasper Counties, but throughout the second district and our state. And also to continue to work on healthcare that’s accessible, affordable, that allows us to have choice while covering pre-existing conditions.”

Miller-Meeks is a Republican running for Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District seat against Democrat Rita Hart. Incumbent Dave Loebsack is not seeking reelection.
