No. 14 ranked Pella opened the 4A regional volleyball playoffs with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-21, 25-18) sweep of Grinnell on Tuesday.
The Lady Dutch opened the first set on a remarkable run, as Meridith Rowe served up eight aces in a 12-0 surge to start the match. From there, the teams were a bit more evenly matched, but Pella was ultimately able to pull away in the other two sets.
Pella’s Bailey Van Voorst finished with 10 kills and Jasmine Namminga had nine, while Rowe finished with 11 aces on the evening out of 18 total for Pella.
The 23-11 Lady Dutch will face a tough task Thursday in the 4A regional semifinals when they take on No. 1 Cedar Rapids Xavier on the road.
