Law enforcement agencies across the region are taking part in the National Drug Take Back initiative.
The Pella Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the nationwide event on Saturday, October 24th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Pella Police Lt. Paul Haase says the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.
The Pella Police Department also has a permanent drop box in their main lobby at the corner of Main and Liberty Street.
There are several controlled substance public disposal locations available year round in Marion County and the surrounding area, including:
– Hy-Vee Pharmacies in Pella and Knoxville
– Pella Regional Health Center
– Medicap Pharmacy in Knoxville
– Monroe Community Pharmacy
