After a mild upset of Glenwood on the road last week, the Norwalk football team will head west again tonight for the second round of the 3A postseason to Council Bluffs Lewis Central. The Warriors were able to put together key late drives in last week’s game, which was just their second win of the season. Head Coach Paul Patterson says that in a usual season, the Warriors wouldn’t be in the playoffs, but now his team is playing the best they have all year.
Lewis Central enters 6-1 overall following a 63-12 destruction of Creston in last week’s postseason opener. The Titans are the sixth-ranked team in Class 3A, and have had little trouble in their wins so far this year. They bring a lot of size and talent to the table, including future Nebraska Cornhusker tight end Thomas Fidone, the team’s top receiver.
Tonight’s game will air on KNIA3 with Jon Mohwinkle and Chris Larson calling the action. Pregame coverage begins at 6:30, with the opening kickoff from Council Bluffs at 7:00. Tonight’s winner advances to the round of 16 against a team to be determined, and will be recognized as a playoff qualifier.
