The sixth-ranked Lewis Central Titans proved to be too much to handle for the Norwalk football team, as the Warriors fell 35-7 on the road in Council Bluffs in the second round of the 3A postseason Friday night in a game aired live on KNIA3.

Norwalk had trouble sustaining any sort of momentum early on, being forced to punt four times in the first quarter. Trailing 14-0 late in the first, Lewis Central was driving in the red zone, but Grant Larson intercepted a swing pass to give the Warriors a bit of momentum. Unfortunately, the ensuing drive came up dry. A second quarter touchdown for the Titans made the score 21-0 at the half.

It was more of the same in the second half. Norwalk was able to string together a few positive plays in succession, but time and time again, some sort of miscue would kill all momentum. Ethan Carlson came up with an interception in the third, and the only touchdown of the night was a Max Juergens touchdown pass to Chase McKinney in the fourth when the game was essentially put away. Norwalk was able to sub in reserves for the final minutes of the season, and Lewis Central punched their ticket to the round of 16.

Norwalk’s season comes to a close with a record of 2-6. 34 seniors will depart the program.
