Most runners that experience their first State Cross Country Meet have a lot of questions to ask. Knoxville’s Seth Walraven is one of those runners that is in his first state meet. Knoxville Boys Cross Country Coach Michael Splavec tells KRLS Sports the key is to not run yourself out of gas in the first mile since everyone will be keyed up for the run.
Splavec:
“The big thing for any runner that’s going to state is the first mile, people are crazy and the hype of the state meet is huge and everybody wants to go out really fast, and if Seth can stay within himself and run his race, he’ll set himself up for a great day.”
Walraven qualified last week at the state qualifier in Pella placing 14th. He will run at 4:00 this Friday while girls runner Norah Pearson will run in the state meet at 3:30 at Fort Dodge.
