Over the last eight weeks, we’ve re-lived some of the great Central College regular season football games from this century as part of our “KRLS Classic” series. This Saturday, our attention turns to the playoffs.
On November 17th, 2001, Central played host to Pacific Lutheran of Washington in second round action at A.N. Kuyper Stadium, since renamed Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium. The Dutch controlled the first three-and-a-half quarters, opening up a 21-7 lead. But the Lutes charged back, scoring two touchdowns in the game’s final eight minutes, then connecting for the dagger in overtime.
That was a young Trevor Castle in his first season calling Central College football on 92.1 KRLS. He was joined by Stephen Flattery, and you can hear the 27-21 Pac Lu victory over the Dutch in its entirety this Saturday afternoon starting at 1:00.
