The Iowa High School Athletic Association’s official football playoffs begin tonight, and in Class 2A, PCM has earned a home game in the round of 16. Tonight’s opponent is Greene County, a Heart of Iowa Conference foe that PCM has never faced in football. The 8-0 Mustangs are coming off a 61-0 beatdown of Saydel in last week’s round of 32 matchup, while Greene County enters with the momentum of a 24-0 shutout of Clarinda last week. At 7-2, the Rams could be considered the toughest opponent yet for PCM, who has taken care of business early in each of its games this year. Head Coach Greg Bonnett says that Greene County is able to make adjustments on the fly, and is looking forward to the challenge.

Tonight’s game between #1 PCM and Greene County will air on KRLS3 with Jon Mohwinkle and Jeff Lindsay calling the action. Pregame coverage begins at 6:30, with the opening kickoff from Monroe at 7:00. Tonight’s winner advances to next Friday’s state quarterfinals against the winner of Atlantic at West Marshall.
