It is one day until Rylee Dunkin heads to Fort Dodge for the class 1A State Cross Country Meet. The Twin Cedars Runner, who is ranked number seven in the final rankings from the Iowa Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, will try to improve on a seventh place finish last season. Coach Trent Verwers tells KRLS Sports Dunkin will be a little more comfortable with everything since she was at state last year, and the nerves are not going to be as prevalent.
Verwers:
“She knows the course and some of those same girls she’s beaten are going to be there. We’re looking at getting a top five if not contend for a championship.”
Dunkin qualified for the state meet by winning the state qualifier at the Pekin meet last week. The girls class 1A race will start at 3:30 at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge. Listen for updates Saturday afternoon on KNIA/KRLS.
