indianola-3

For the third straight season, the Indianola football team competes in the class 4A round of 16 postseason, tonight on the road at Waukee. The Indians are coming off of a 30-7 victory over Johnston where they gained 6.5 yards per carry on the ground for 252 yards, and held the Dragons to just 80 yards on the ground, with the majority of that coming in the first quarter. The Indians will have to replicate that defensive performance against the Warriors, who boast one of Iowa’s top running backs in Alex Lindquist who has over 1200 yards on the ground. Head coach Eric Kluver tells KNIA Sports the key for the Indians tonight is staying tough on defense and making tackles.

“Stopping the run and just giving our offense an opportunity to grind clock and move the chains. This isn’t a team that we are going to want to run up and down the field with. We want to control the clock and the game, almost a little bit of keep away from that potent Waukee offense. Those are the keys, and we need to have another week in the special teams game like we did a week ago.”

The game tonight can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 6:30pm, with kickoff scheduled for 7.
