Saturday will be the final cross country race in the high school career of J’Lyn Knutson of Melcher-Dallas. Knutson has qualified for the state meet all four years of her high school career. Her ultimate goal has always been to medal, but after several months of injuries and other issues Knutson is wanting to end her fall running career with her best finish wherever it may be. Coach Amy Stuart tells KNIA Sports while medaling and getting All-State is still on the table, the goal of just finishing with a career best at state is very attainable.

Stuart:
“That’s the goal is to medal. But really she would be happy to have her best finish place wise and time wise. That would be a great finish to a great career.”

Knutson placed fifth at the Mount Ayr State Qualifier last week easily putting her in the state meet Saturday. The 1A girls race will be at 3:30, listen for reports all day long on KNIA.
