Webb Shadle Memorial Library in Pleasantville is in the process of fundraising for new carpet. The current carpet is the original, and is approximately 50 years old and partially held down by duct tape. Jennifer Latch with the library says that while monetary donations of any amount are appreciated, there is a way for those donating to leave a lasting mark.

“We have set up a fundraiser that has the floor plan of the library. It’s broken down into square yards that people can buy for 60 dollars a square. That will then fund our carpet needs. So when somebody buys a square, their name gets written down on our display board that we have prominently displayed in the entryway of the library with your name, or if you want to do a loved one’s name, or if you want to come together and do a family block of squares, we’ve had some people want to do that. We have a way for you to own that little piece of the library.”

The library needs approximately an additional $4,000 to complete the project. More information on how to donate can be found here. Hear an interview with Webb Shadle Library leaders on an upcoming In Depth.
